Shenzhen, China – July 28, 2026 – BYD ranked No. 91 on the 2026 Fortune Global 500 list released today, marking its fifth consecutive year on the prestigious index and firmly solidifying its position among the world’s top 100 enterprises
In 2025, BYD delivered robust financial results and strong operational performance, reporting annual revenue of RMB 804 billion (USD 111 billion) and a net profit of RMB 32.6 billion (USD 4.5 billion). The company recorded annual New Energy Vehicle (NEV) sales of 4.6 million units, extending its leadership as the global top-selling NEV manufacturer and China’s leading automaker. This momentum continued into 2026, with cumulative sales exceeding 1.8 million units in the first six months. In July, BYD reached a major milestone as its 17-millionth NEV rolled off the production line, making it the first automaker worldwide to achieve this distinction.
Underpinning BYD’s performance is its strategic commitment to a “Technology-Based, Innovation-Oriented” philosophy. In 2025, the company allocated RMB 63.4 billion (USD 8.7 billion) to research and development—a 17% increase year-on-year—ranking first among China’s A-share listed companies for the second consecutive year. In Q1 2026, R&D expenditure reached RMB 11.3 billion (USD 1.6 billion), maintaining its lead over domestic mainstream automakers and emerging EV peers. To date, BYD’s cumulative R&D investment has surpassed RMB 250 billion (USD 34.5 billion). This continuous heavy investment has accelerated the deployment of disruptive technologies. In March 2026, BYD unveiled its 2nd Generation Blade Battery and FLASH Charging technology, with plans to deploy 20,000 FLASH Charging stations across China by year-end and 6,000 stations in international markets. In May, BYD pioneered advanced mobility standards by offering a one-year safety coverage commitment for its Urban Navigate on Autopilot and making its God’s Eye-B Intelligent Driving System LiDAR Version available across its entire vehicle portfolio, accelerating mainstream adoption of urban automated driving.
BYD’s global expansion gained significant momentum in 2025, with overseas sales surpassing 1 million units for the first time, reflecting a 145% year-over-year growth. International sales continued their upward trajectory in the first half of 2026, exceeding 780,000 units. The company’s globalization strategy has established strong market leadership in Latin America, key breakthroughs across Europe, and multi-market expansion in the Asia-Pacific region. Strategic developments this year include the opening of BYD’s first overseas SkyRail in Brazil and celebrating the 100,000th NEV produced at the BYD Brazil Factory; debuting the DENZA Z, Z9GT, and D9 models in Europe, establishing a new benchmark where technology drives elegance; introducing the BYD RACCO, its first model developed specifically for Japanese market; and marking the second anniversary of the BYD Thailand Factory. Today, BYD operates across 121 countries and regions, transitioning into a high-quality global enterprise rooted in localized operations.
BYD’s NEVs achieved cumulative carbon reduction of over 149.05 billion kilograms (149,057,400,317 kg) across energy production and vehicle lifecycle as of June 30, equivalent to planting more than 2.48 billion trees (2,484,290,005 trees). Demonstrating its commitment to corporate social responsibility, BYD established a RMB 3 billion (USD 413 million) educational charity fund and finalized donation agreements with 127 universities across China, supporting over 6,000 students.
As a global leader in NEVs, BYD’s position among the world’s top 100 enterprises underscores the strength of its sustained technological innovation and expanding global presence. Looking ahead, BYD will continue to advance sustainable development through cutting-edge technologies and a broader global footprint, toward its vision of “Cool the Earth by 1°C.”
