The future arrives at Goodwood: BYD Group unveils eight new models across three brands

The future arrives at Goodwood: BYD Group unveils eight new models across three brands From world firsts to UK launches, the BYD Group stand will present eight car debuts at one of the greatest shows on the automotive calendar The headline act – DENZA Z sports car in both Coupe and Racing forms – will make their global debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed Premium brand DENZA and luxury brand YANGWANG will each offer European show debuts for the BAO 5 SUV and U9 Xtreme and U7 respectively BYD will be debuting two of its latest UK-bound models at the event: the DOLPHIN G DM-i supermini and the SHARK pick-up The three-level BYD Group structure – on a 2,016-square metre plot – is set to be the largest in the history of the event BYD Group, the world’s leading manufacturer of New Energy Vehicles (plug-in hybrid and fully electric), will bring no less than eight new car debuts to the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026 – from global reveals to UK releases. Taking centre stage at the event will be premium brand DENZA, with the Festival of Speed not only becoming the reveal platform for two cars globally and one on a European level, but also marking the brand’s official launch in the UK. The event is no less important for BYD, with one of the smallest models on the stand also among the most significant for UK buyers. The DOLPHIN G DM-i will break into the supermini segment with its DM-i plug-in hybrid technology – unique in the segment – plus class-leading practicality and technology. YANGWANG will also make its mark on this year’s Festival of Speed, with the U9 Xtreme – the world’s fastest production car – presented on UK soil for the first time. It will be joined by the awe-inspiring U8L, a four-seater luxury SUV which can also swim, plus the U7 executive saloon. BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li said: “This is more than a product showcase. It is a statement of intent. With eight premieres across three distinct brands, BYD Group is demonstrating how innovation, performance, premium design and sustainability can coexist within one of the most comprehensive automotive portfolios in the world.” GROUNDBREAKING Z SUPERCAR TO SPEARHEAD MULTIPLE LAUNCHES FOR THE DENZA BRAND The Festival of Speed will host the world debuts of the DENZA Z Coupe and DENZA Z Racing. The pair of striking, all-electric coupes offer the latest two interpretations of the “Pure Emotion” design philosophy, first demonstrated by the DENZA Z Spider at Auto China 2026 in Beijing in April of this year. The Coupe shares its powertrain with the Spider; the three-motor powertrain enables a 217mph top speed. Yet this performance hasn’t come at the expense of everyday usability, thanks a two-plus-two seating arrangement and a large boot. The Racing model takes an even more extreme approach, most notably though its dramatic carbon fibre aerodynamic package. From supercars to SUVs, DENZA is set to introduce a diverse line-up of models. Making its first European appearance, the BAO 5 is set to challenge established players in the premium SUV segment. Using DM-o (Dual-Mode Off-Road) technology, the rugged addition combines three electric motors with a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine to deliver EV refinement, responsiveness and control – whether on or off-road – with petrol flexibility. The extent of DENZA’s premium offering goes beyond the Z and the BAO 5, however, as the event will mark DENZA’s official launch in the UK. The Z9GT will be the first model to arrive on UK shores, but it will be joined in quick succession by the D9 DM-i.   The high-tech, first-class lounge on wheels offers occupants an opulent experience, featuring massaging middle-row seats that recline up to 152 degrees, plus heating and ventilation in all seven seats, and even a generous luggage capacity of at least 430 litres with a full complement of passengers. The DM-i powertrain delivers up to 130 miles of WLTP pure-electric range and strong performance thanks to its dual motor layout with 353PS.   BYD LAUNCHES TWO KEY MODELS FOR THE UK MARKET Following on from the global debut of the DOLPHIN G DM-i in Berlin on 10th June, it makes its way to UK shores for the first time. The only supermini on the market with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, it will offer British buyers a total driving range of 646 miles, class-leading performance and boot space which exceeds that of many larger family hatchbacks. Ultimate versatility, however, comes from the pick-up segment, and the Festival of Speed guests will be presented with BYD’s challenger for the class for the first time. The SHARK will make its European debut over the weekend, complete with a 435PS Dual Mode off-road (DM-o) plug-in hybrid powertrain. This can propel the SHARK from 0-62mph in 5.7 seconds, offers an electric-only range of 55 miles, and delivers a towing capacity of 2,500kg.   YANGWANG U9 XTREME: THE WORLD’S FASTEST CAR COMES TO GOODWOOD YANGWANG, the luxury brand of BYD, will also offer a key launch at the Festival of Speed. While the U9 Xtreme has laid its tyres on European soil twice before — first to set a searing 6:59.157 lap time at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, a production EV record, and second to set an official production-car top-speed record of 308.4mph — its appearance at the event will confirm its availability to European buyers. YANGWANG will also be represented by the U7 luxury saloon. Available with both plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrains, the U7 is equipped with e⁴ four-motor powertrain layout, four-wheel steering and DiSus-Z active suspension. ENTERTAINMENT GALORE: THE BYD STAND OFFERS FAR MORE THAN JUST CARS Beyond the cars, the BYD Group stand — the largest in Goodwood Festival of Speed history — will offer festival-goers a range of attractions and activations. Among these are a dedicated Tech Zone, an off-roading display area, robots, driving simulators, a merchandise store and a roof terrace offering exclusive hospitality. About BYD …

Latest DM 5.0 Super Hybrid Technology makes European debut in all-new BYD DOLPHIN G DM-i

Latest DM 5.0 Super Hybrid Technology makes European debut in all-new BYD DOLPHIN G DM-i Fifth-gen system is introduced to Europe in the region’s first and only PHEV B-segment hatchback Improvements in powertrain, thermal management and electrics integration deliver significant gains in efficiency DOLPHIN G DM-i achieves up to 1040km of combined range and weighted fuel consumption of just 1.4L/100km BYD, the world’s leading manufacturer of new-energy vehicles, presents the latest version of its Super Hybrid technology, DM 5.0, in the compact shape of the all-new DOLPHIN G DM-i. The first BYD designed and developed for Europe uses improvements in three key areas to deliver best-in-class flexibility, achieving weighted fuel consumption on a full battery of just 1.4L/100km. BYD’s Super Hybrid DM technology has been a success since launch, with more than 8.5 million DM vehicles sold around the world. European customers have benefited from this breakthrough innovation too, making BYD the number-one PHEV brand in many markets and embracing an ever-widening line-up of DM-i vehicles – ATTO 2 DM-i, SEAL 6 DM-i, SEALION 5 DM-i, SEAL U DM-i and SEAL 5 DM-i. Now the DOLPHIN G DM-i arrives to redefine the B-segment hatchback market – and the first plug-in hybrid entry in the class introduces a new generation of Super Hybrid to Europe: DM 5.0. This harnesses gains made in three core areas: powertrain, thermal management and electric integration. BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li said: “We never stop innovating at BYD, and the debut of DM 5.0 shows how this commitment extends to even our more compact models. The benefits of these cutting-edge technologies really help DOLPHIN G to stand out with outstanding fuel efficiency in real-world use, as well as EV range for everyday driving and the long-distance flexibility that comes with 1040km on a full tank and a full charge. This combination – DOLPHIN G and DM 5.0 – is born to disrupt, and we strongly believe it will shake up this important segment in Europe.” The changes to the powertrain include a new version of BYD’s 1.5-litre petrol engine, developed specifically for use in Super Hybrid. This features a higher compression ratio than before (16:1) along with intelligent fuel injection, combustion, split cooling and variable lubrication. In the DOLPHIN G DM-i, the petrol engine produces 95PS or 70kW. Furthermore, DM 5.0 brings gains to the EHS (electric hybrid system), achieved through optimisations in the cooling and transmission design, plus the use of ultra-thin silicon steel sheets. Thermal management gains help to boost efficiency further, with a coordinated approach to the front compartment, the cabin and the battery. The industry’s first full-temperature-range thermal-management architecture incorporates features like direct cooling technology for the Blade Battery and intelligent control of the cabin environment to ensure not only better performance but also better efficiency. Together, these measures contribute fuel and energy savings in hotter and cooler temperatures. Finally, DM 5.0 has optimised electronics and electrics, including a world-first three-controller integration for the powertrain domain that delivers more computing performance and faster signal transmissions. Combined with BYD’s advanced 7-in-1 electronic control technology, the system adapts to diverse road conditions, temperatures and operating scenarios to ensure refined optimal overall control and an excellent driving experience. These improvements make the DOLPHIN G DM-i a standout offering in the B-segment hatchback class, with 105km of pure-electric range – enough for most daily journeys – and combined range, on a full tank and a full charge, of 1040km. Its weighted fuel consumption on a full battery is as low as 1.4L/100km, slashing running costs. Yet its maximum system power of 212PS means strong performance, with 0-100km/h taking just 8.3 seconds. CLEVER POWERTRAIN MATCHED BY LATEST CABIN TECHNOLOGIES BYD’s first B-segment hatchback has all the design qualities to strike a chord with European customers. With a length of 4160mm and a width of 1825mm, it sits firmly in the heartland of European superminis. And its long wheelbase of 2610mm means best-in-class cabin space and a huge boot capacity of 425 litres. The DOLPHIN G DM-i reflects BYD’s approach of making the latest technologies available across its model line-up, with many of its standard features either rare in the B-segment or not available at all on rivals. These include a 12.8-inch touchscreen with Google1 built-in for Google Maps, Google Assistant and Google Play, front and rear parking sensors with 360°-view camera, heated seats and steering wheel, courtesy puddle lights, 18-inch alloy wheels and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) for powering up devices when on the move. Two sizes of Blade Battery are offered in the DOLPHIN G DM-i. Active versions feature a 7.42kWh capacity for 40km of WLTP Combined pure-electric range and a combined total range of 1020km. Boost, Comfort and Sport editions have an 18.3kWh Blade Battery, extending the pure-electric range to 105km and the combined total range to 1040km, while also lowering CO2 emissions from 60g/km to just 32g/km. Active models have a 3.3kW on-board charger that can refill the battery completely from 15% in just under three hours. Boost, Comfort and Sport versions increase this power to 6.6kW and include a 39kW DC charging capability that takes the 18.3kWh battery from 10% to 80% in just 26 minutes.  BYD dealers in many European markets are already taking orders for the DOLPHIN G DM-i, with the first cars expected to be delivered to customers in late summer.
